This thesis discusses the ongoing political debate in Sweden regarding the best energy source, with a focus on the attitudes of Swedish youth towards nuclear power. The thesis also shows previous generations’ take on nuclear power and the results of the 1980 referendum. The purpose of this study is to find out what students in Lerums Gymnasium have an attitude towards nuclear power and what information they lack. The study was conducted at Lerum gymnasium among 18-19 year old students who voted in the recent election. The key questions to be answered include what young people think about nuclear power, what knowledge they lack and where they get their information. The results show that 50 percent in my study do not want nuclear power, they want a loanable phase-out of nuclear power. The text also provides definitions of key terms such as rotor, kilowatt hours, isotopes and uranium 235. The ultimate goal of this thesis is to create a website for young people to access more information about nuclear power.
